Movies
Some good movies have released recently, Om shanti Om, Saawariya, Aaja Nachle, etc but have not yet found the time to watch them, in fact Chak de India is also pending. Will try to catch up during the holidays.
Cricket tour of Australia also starts in a few days time with the first Test starting at Melbourne on Boxing day. After beating the relatively weak Pakistan team, the Aussies will be tough. Richie Benaud and Bill Lawry as commentators, always nice to hear them early in the morning.

Diwali shopping
Diwali is round the corner and it seems many people nowadays prefer to do their shopping online from the comfort of their houses. You get a variety of gifts online which you can order for sending to your friends and relatives. The discounts are also good and the logistics of delivery also seem to have improved. You can avoid the rush of the crowded markets especially if you come home late and are too tired to go out.

CNN IBN show
I watch this channel for the news and news based programmes. At 10 o'clock at night they have a show called 'Face the Nation'. Yesterday it was about the nuclear deal and the Left parties opposition to the deal. The host was Sagarika Ghosh who is the better half of Rajdeep Sardesai.
Normally she researches her subject well and asks good probing questions, but yesterday she kept trying (unsuccessfully !) to make a hero out of Prakash Karat who is the general secretary of the CPM.
Mr Depankar Mukherjee of the CPM, who was one of the participants, kept reminding her that all decisions in the party are taken collectively and not according to any one person's whims and fancies. Mr Karat is only the spokesperson for those decisions. Mr Subramanium Swamy was the other participant and attacked the CPM for not being open to new ideas and to changes taking place in the world.

England vs India
The first Test match at Lords is interestingly poised. After bowling out India for 201 and gaining a lead of 97 runs, England were 54 for 2 in their second innings having lost both its openers. If the weather stays clear, India have an uphill task ahead.
